I flew into Salt Lake City a couple of days before the marathon and stayed with Gweneviere’s family. It always nice to see and visit them. The next day I drove up to Pocatello, ID to stay the night before the race. They made a nice poster with Gwen and me for the race I race in Provo a few week earlier.

The landscape here reminds me of Wyoming and Nebraska. Big Sky country.

The speed limit was 80 in Idaho and there were plenty of cars going much faster than that!

The Pocatello Marathon gave me bib #50 in honor of our 50 marathons in 50 states campaign. What a really nice gesture.

The race course itself was breathtaking. A lot of incredible landscape. The course was very fast with quite a bit of downhill. Like Utah, the air in Idaho was cool and dry, so you can get dehydrated quickly. Keep that in mind if you run this race. I would love to do this course again.
